Hypnosis as a "Medication" for Generalized Anxiety Disorder

In this medication for generalized anxiety disorder section, we will look at one tool that has been wrongfully criticized by many people in the past. Before you and I will delve into this discussion, I need to explain briefly what hypnosis is. Hypnosis is mainly auto suggestion. In another words, it is a form of brainwashing.

The hypnotist gives you initial suggestions to relax. He accomplishes this task by asking you to imagine the beach or the forest. You are either lying on the beach or you are walking slowly through the forest. Relaxation is absolutely necessary in hypnosis because it is done to slow your conscious mind down. Your conscious mind often “resists” receiving any kind of suggestions. It needs to be “gotten out of your way” before the subconscious mind begins to absorb suggestions, which are needed to initiate self-change. Thus, the main goal of hypnosis is to deactivate your conscious mind in order to make your subconscious mind active and ready to initiate the desired change at a deeper level.

The hypnotists often say that the subconscious mind can be your “slave.” It will do what you will tell it to do if the conscious mind does not interfere with a new programming. From my own experiences with hypnosis, I can attest to this above statement. It is a great supplemental tool to treat many conditions and disorders. Many people believe that hypnosis should be considered as a “medication” for many conditions, not just generalized anxiety disorder.

Many people are still critical of this form of treatment. There have not been many studies done, for instance, to check its effectiveness on anxiety in a long term. The lack of research, however, should not stop people from using this form of treatment and benefiting from it. When people do not get desired results, it usually happens for one or two reasons. The first one is the hypnotist is simply lousy. He does not know what he is doing. The script and suggestions that are used during your session were not picked correctly for you. The second reason can be you were not simply hypnotized during your session. Nevertheless, I believe the fault that the hypnosis has failed to work on you can ultimately be traced to the hypnotist.

When the hypnosis works, however, it might have a better effect on a person than any medication for generalized anxiety disorder has on the same person.

Based on my experiences, hypnosis can be used very effectively in two circumstances. The first one is to deal with your anxiety. The second use is to motivate you to act and to achieve your goals. Although I no longer use it for anxiety, I still use it to motivate myself to go after my goals.

The problem that many people face is finding a hypnotist who knows what he is doing. By the way, the hypnotist might have all credentials, such as awards and diplomas. Yet, he is simply lousy. I went to see several people who fit in this category. Those people claimed they had years of experience. Yet, they could not hypnotize anybody even they tried their best.

Natural Therapy for Anxiety Disorders gets around this problem of incompetence by describing the most effective form of hypnosis. You will learn the hypnosis and experience its benefits immediately after the first session. It tells you how and when to use this form of hypnosis without leaving your home. It tells you about the results you can expect to receive from such treatment. That way, you will get all maximum benefits in the least amount of time without spending money. No wonder hypnosis can now be used as a medication for generalized anxiety disorder and other anxiety disorders.
